female Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius) laying eggs on Winged Sumac (Rhus copallina)

I have seen it repeated in many texts that the host plant for Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius) is oaks (Quercus sp.). Twice I have seen this species laying eggs on Winged Sumac (Rhus copallina) in southern New Jersey. The picture above is of an egg laying female that visited many sumac plants in a small field laying eggs on each where she found tender new growth. There are three species of oaks around the field which she ignored.
